Born and raised in Brookfield, Connecticut, Jason was known for his calm demeanor and incredible work ethic. From a young age, he displayed a keen interest in serving his community and nation. After graduating from Brookfield High School, his path led him directly to the military. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, driven by a profound desire to challenge himself and contribute to something greater than himself.

Petty Officer First Class (SEAL) Lewis meticulously prepared for and successfully completed the grueling Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training and SEAL Qualification Training (SQT). This rigorous selection and training process is renowned for pushing candidates to their physical and mental limits, forging the elite warriors of the Naval Special Warfare community. Upon successful completion of this demanding pipeline, he was then stationed in Little Creek, Virginia, a significant hub for Naval Special Warfare operations on the East Coast. Here, he specialized in the covert insertion and extraction of SEAL teams. His expertise was critical in high-stakes environments, making him a highly valued member of his unit.

On that fateful day in July 2007, Jason was engaged in direct combat operations in Iraq. While the specifics of such classified missions remain undisclosed, what is known is that Petty Officer Lewis was a true warrior, bravely facing the dangers inherent in his demanding role. He operated with precision and courage, embodying the SEAL ethos of "The only easy day was yesterday." His actions that day, like every day of his service, reflected his deep commitment to his fellow teammates and the mission at hand.
