Daniel R. Healy was a highly respected Navy SEAL who tragically lost his life on June 28th, 2005, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, during Operation Red Wings. He was 36 years old.
Born and raised in Exeter, New Hampshire, Daniel was known for his quiet strength and unwavering dedication. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and pursued the challenging path to becoming a Navy SEAL, demonstrating his commitment to serving his country at the highest level.
Petty Officer Healy successfully completed the rigorous Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, SEAL Qualification Training, and further specialized in SEAL Delivery Vehicle operations. He served with SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
During Operation Red Wings, Petty Officer Healy was part of a quick reaction force sent to support a compromised SEAL team. Tragically, the MH-47 Chinook helicopter he was aboard was shot down, resulting in the loss of all lives on board, including Daniel.
Daniel R. Healy’s commitment to service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. He is remembered by his family, friends, and fellow SEALs as a true American hero. His legacy serves as a solemn reminder of the dedication and bravery required of those who defend our nation.
