The Green Light: A Door Kicker Espresso Martini

Door Kicker is the highest-caffeine roast in the lineup, light roasted in the traditional Northern European style with brown sugar and caramel through a smooth finish. Those notes make it a natural base for an espresso martini. Here is how we build ours.

An espresso martini lives or dies on the coffee. A light roast like Door Kicker keeps the drink bright rather than bitter, and its brown sugar and caramel character means you need very little added sweetness. Pull it fresh if you can. Strong cold brew works when you want to make a few at once.

Cocktail

The Green Light

  • Serves 1
  • Time 5 min
  • Base Door Kicker Espresso

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Door Kicker espresso, chilled (or strong cold brew)
  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur
  • 0.5 oz brown sugar syrup
  • Ice
  • 3 coffee beans, to garnish

Method

  1. Pull a double shot of Door Kicker and chill it, or measure out strong cold brew.
  2. Add the espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and brown sugar syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake hard for 15 to 20 seconds to build the foam.
  4. Double strain into a chilled coupe.
  5. Float three coffee beans on top. Green light.

Zero-proof variation: skip the vodka and liqueur, double the espresso, add a splash of oat milk over ice with the brown sugar syrup. Door Kicker carries the most caffeine of any roast we make, so pace yourself.
